Hi All –
Well as all of you know we LOVE Halloween---the years of all the great party pictures. Guess what, Germany doesn't really do the Halloween thing--shocking I know. BUT FIS does this thing call Trunk or Treat. I guess it is catching on in the states but I was new to it. This is how it works: You come dressed up and then you decorate the trunk of your car. The kids go “trunk or treating” from car to car. They have a parade to judge costumes and then there is contest for the best Trunk…..

And the Winner is…………..
THE VANHOWE’S

Our costumes were all Jack’s idea, if you can believe that. The kids had a great day and were so excited we won. Here are a few pictures from the day.

BTW we are doing great – making new friends and staying very busy. We miss you all and can’t wait to see you next summer. As always we love hearing about the “stuff” at home.

Smiles –
Jen and Kev

You guy look awesome! Jack's idea was pure genius but I'm sure you already know that. :) Your trunk looks fab and it is no great surprise that you guys took 1st place. Nobody knows how to do Halloween like the VanHowes. :)

Mee, Bri and Ali were at my Mom's yesterday for our annual "Chili Fest".(Alex had a game) Ali "modeled" her princess costume with glittery pink shoes, twinkle lighted dress, sceptor (which she uses very aptly for wacking her subjects)and tiara which only stay on her head for 5 seconds at a time at best. Daddy had fun trying to snap a shot of his "little princess" in full attire.

I continued my reign as Chili Fest queen with my "Indian Summer turkey chili" recipe. It was really good and even got the votes for those who dislike ground turkey (Brian and Jay). My Mom and Mee have vowed to take me down next year. LOL We'll see. ;)

Jay, Dakota and I are heading up to Marquette on the 31st for a college visit to Northern Michigan University. The university is hosting a Wildcat Weekend to allow potential future students tour the campus. We're renting a cabin on Lake Superior for the weekend and have tickets to NMU vs Notre Dame hockey game on Saturday night.Should be a fun time.

Hope you have a spooky Halloween...
Hugs to all of you,

Mel
